Sloane isn't expecting to fall in with a group of friends when she moves from New York to Florida—especially not a group of friends so intense, so in love, so all-consuming. Yet that's exactly what happens.
Sloane becomes closest to Vera, a social-media star who lights up any room, and Gabe, Vera's twin brother and the most serious person Sloane's ever met. When a beloved painting by the twins' late mother goes missing, Sloane takes on the responsibility of tracking it down, a journey that takes her across state lines—and ever deeper into the twins' lives.
Filled with intense and important friendships, a wonderful warts-and-all family, shiveringly good romantic developments, and sharp, witty dialogue, this story is about finding the people you never knew you needed.
My Review:
Emma Mills is by far my favorite author of all time. I love all her characters and the world they reside in. I wish the library had all of her works, I will keep a strong lookout for anything Emma writes. She makes me love to read again. She makes me feel happy. She writes such beautiful stories and I never want her to stop writing.
Then and Now: March 2016/July 2017
Devon Tennyson wouldn't change a thing. She's happy watching Friday night games from the bleachers, silently crushing on best friend Cas, and blissfully ignoring the future after high school. But the universe has other plans. It delivers Devon's cousin Foster, an unrepentant social outlier with a surprising talent for football, and the obnoxiously superior and maddeningly attractive star running back, Ezra, right where she doesn't want them: first into her P.E. class and then into every other aspect of her life.
Pride and Prejudice meets Friday Night Lights in this contemporary novel about falling in love with the unexpected boy, with a new brother, and with yourself
My Review:
| Oh my God. I really adored this book. But I wanted more. More Erza please! I loved their romance and wanted to see more of this budding relationship. I'm craving more and it makes me want to read more of my books on my to read list. Second Time Around: Even better the second time around I swear. Its been over a year since I last read this swoon worthy novel. I want a sequel so bad!!! Devon was an amazing girl to read about even if she calls herself uninspiring. Also the romance between her and Erza! I could read about that all day! All of Emma Mills characters are rich in density. I would probably read anything she puts out. |
